Engaging students in exercises and discussions that focus on a variety of tehnical management and operational components that service providers are tasked to provide, FPM 512 covers 8 of the remaining 15 Technical Competencies required for FAC-P/PM-IT certification.  Fully FAI-verified, this course is one of three FAC-P/PM-IT courses that we offer to those working towards FAC-P/PM-IT certification.  When combined with the FPM 511 and 513 courses, students will achieve FAI-verified training that covers all of the competencies developed by FAI for certification in the FAC-P/PM-IT Specialization.

FPM 512 Course Overview

Prerequisites

The broad scale of the FAC-P/PM-IT competency areas and advanced Federal IT PM and acquisition concepts examined throughout this course requires that students have already earned their Mid- or Senior-level “Core” FAC-P/PM certifications before applying for the FAC-P/PM-IT certification; however, FAC-P/PM certification is not a requirement to begin the FAC-P/PM-IT training (students currently working towards the FAC-P/PM certification can attend the FAC-P/PM-IT courses).

Educational Focus

Utilizing presentation, discussion, cases, activities, and other hands-on exercises, this advanced 24-hour course covers the topics listed below.  Exercises focused on case studies are employed to allow the students to practice the skills that they are developing throughout the course.  An assessment tool is provided to assist the students in tracking and determining their achievement of attaining the new performance outcomes defined by FAI for FAC-P/PM-IT certification.  Finally, students make presentations describing the actions they intend to take when they return to work to implement the lessons they learned during the class.

This course has been verified as meeting all OFPP/FAI training requirements for the following 8 FAC-P/PM-IT competencies:

  • Configuration Management
  • Information Assurance
  • Information Management
  • Information Systems Security Certification
  • Information Systems / Network Security
  • Information Technology Performance Assessment
