FPM 511 Course Overview

Prerequisites

The broad scale of the FAC-P/PM-IT competency areas and advanced Federal IT PM and acquisition concepts examined throughout this course requires that students have already earned their Mid- or Senior-level “Core” FAC-P/PM certifications before applying for the FAC-P/PM-IT certification; however, FAC-P/PM certification is not a requirement to begin the FAC-P/PM-IT training (students currently working towards the FAC-P/PM certification can attend the FAC-P/PM-IT courses).

Educational Focus

Utilizing presentation, discussion, cases, activities, and other hands-on exercises, this advanced 40-hour course covers the topics listed below.  A comprehensive business case, built from an actual Federal IT program, forms the basis for various exercises which allows the students to practice the skills that they are developing throughout the course.

​This course also gives students a comprehensive review of the concepts, tools, and techniques taught throughout the FAC-P/PM certification curriculum. Students will review and refresh their understanding of the critical Competencies presented throughout their initial FAC-P/PM training programs, specifically as they apply to the Federal IT Program / Project Manager.

  • Students make extensive use of a comprehensive course-long case study, built using artifacts, documents, and lessons learned from an actual Federal IT program.
  • Additional hands-on exercises allow students to practice applying the concepts, tools, and techniques using representative real-world scenarios.

This course represents 40 hours of the FAC-P/PM-certified student’s required 80 hours of continuous learning (CLP) credit, which must be completed every two years.

  • Project Managers who have completed their FAC-P/PM certification training and who need additional IT-focused FAC-P/PM training, or need FAC-P/PM CLPs.

Additionally, this course fulfills 40 hours of the FAC-P/PM-certified student’s required 80 hours of continuous learning (CLP) credit, which must be completed every two years.
